TELEHEALTH SESSIONS NOW AVAILABLE!
25 years of diverse experience enables me to provide effective, empathic and evidence-based therapy. I offer therapy and consultation for many issues and challenges including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, abuse, life transitions and adoption to name a few. I provide a nurturing environment for adults, teens, children and families to explore growth and healing. I am also pleased to provide parenting consultation and coaching.
My focus is to help individuals and families heal, energize, and become aware of their inner strengths, bringing more joy, balance, connection and peace. I use a variety of trauma informed, evidence-based modalities and practices in my work:
I graduated with a Master's degree in Clinical Social Work from Wilfred Laurier University (Canada) in 1995 and have been a Licensed Clinical Social Work in Oregon since 1998. I complete a minimum of 40 hours of continuing education bi-annually and have participated in numerous and on-going trainings by Dr. Bruce Perry M.D. (Child Trauma Academy) Dr. Stuart Ablon Ph.D (Think:Kids/Collaborative Problem Solving), Dr Gabor Maté M.D., and Peter Levine M.D. I have extensive experience teaching Mindfulness-Based Stress and Symptom Reduction. I am also a certified YogaCalm instructor and Reiki Practitioner.
Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at any point in our lives. The inner-work done in counseling, will assist in your journey to recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life or to find the peace and joy you want to manifest.
Many individuals experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger after traumatic events or experiences. Together we can work to overcome these symptoms and find a path to healing and wholeness. Understanding our neurobiological and somatic experience of trauma can help to accelerate results and unlock new perspectives as we seek to heal. In so doing, we develop a new and deeper relationship with ourselves, thereby increasing our ability to cope and transcend challenges with equanimity.
Sand Tray and Play Therapy are tools used to help younger clients in their learning and healing process.
Family counseling can be beneficial to families who are looking to strengthen their connection and communication with one another and work through conflict. Family therapy explores areas where families feel stuck and builds healthy communication, allowing you to to thrive and increase your joy together. Therapy is held with all family members present and provides a supportive place to discuss challenging issues and find solutions to strengthen your family.
Parenting is often challenging in the best of times; if you find yourself needing support or want to be a different kind of parent than you had growing up, parent coaching can be a tremendous and rewarding investment for your entire family.
